A question for the nutrition experts and boys at 1R...
As huge a fan of 2:1:1 as I am I like to mix it up and change flavors of 'tein quite a bit. When I buy a large quantity of 2:1:1 I essentially get locked into one flavor and one nutritional profile. Over the last few months I've experimented with my own post-lift concoction of 1 scoop whey, 1 scoop casein and 3 tbsp dextrose (corn sugar). I like this system because I have a variety of flavors of protein on hand that I can switch up and I can also vary the amount of total post-workout carbs by adjusting the dextrose content. This works great for me because I drink a lot of tein shakes between meals too that don't get dextrose.
I've recently noticed that 1R offers Glyco-Maize and Cytocarb. These two two supps are essentially the same as adding dextrose to the shake although they drastically reduce the sugar content (dextrose IS sugar). My question is which is better dextrose vs. Glycomaize/Cytocarb? I like the fact that Glyco-Maize and Cytocarb are also flavorless because the dextrose has a tendency to sweeten up my protein shakes, and I genuinely like the taste of my protein products. If I had to choose between the two which do people prefer? Glyco-Maize looks to be a little less calorie dense with slightly higher sugar per serving than Cytocarb.....
Any thoughts or insights are appreciated

12pack,
I started taking Glyco-Maize three months ago after a recommendation from the 1R boys. I'd been taking protein shakes with creatine post-lift, but never with a carb blend. After doing a bunch of research, I found that post-lift carbs are nearly as important as post-lift protein for building muscle. So, I picked up some Glyco-Maize.
So far, I like it a lot. It's flavorless, but it adds some thickness to the shake which I think actually makes it taste better. Also, it provides a good steady stream of carbs (fast acting up front, sustained at the end) and is cost-effective. It's a bit messy, but it blends well and is great pre or post-lift. I highly recommend it.
As for the science of which is better per your question, I leave that to the 1R boys or nutritionists.
